Abstract: By discussing museum curation of Greek and Roman artwork, the authors critique common presumptions and misinterpretations made about artwork in relation to race and ethnicity, while also providing examples of the Getty Museum’s updated descriptions that strive away from assumptions that privilege whiteness and obscure the diversity of the ancient Mediterranean.
